BoPin 340 Metal Roof & Panel Sealant

BoPin 340 is a single-component, moisture-curing MS polymer sealant specifically formulated for metal roofing systems, metal cladding and panel joints. Based on modified silane polymer technology, it cures at room temperature to form a durable, highly flexible rubber with exceptional movement capability and excellent adhesion to all common roofing metals without primer. The non-corrosive formula is safe for use on galvanised steel, aluminium, copper and pre-coated metals, and the paintable surface allows colour-matching to roofing systems where aesthetics are a requirement. Vibration-resistant once cured, it maintains joint integrity under the repeated thermal cycling and structural movement typical of large metal roofing structures.

Main Benefits
  • Exceptional movement capability — ±50% accommodates significant thermal expansion and contraction in metal roof panels
  • Excellent adhesion to all common roofing metals including galvanised steel, aluminium, copper and pre-coated metals — typically without primer
  • Non-corrosive — safe for all metal types, no risk of electrochemical corrosion at the joint
  • Paintable after cure — allows colour-matching to roof coating systems
  • Vibration-resistant — maintains bond integrity under structural movement and wind loading
  • Solvent-free, low odour formula — suitable for use in occupied or partially enclosed structures
  • Wide application temperature range — -10°C to +40°C
Adhere To
  • Galvanised steel and Zincalume
  • Aluminium and powder-coated aluminium
  • Copper and pre-coated metals
  • Concrete and masonry (at roof-to-wall junctions)
  • Timber purlins and structural members
Application Areas
  • Metal roofing seam and overlap joint sealing
  • Flashing connections and roof-to-wall junctions
  • Metal cladding and facade panel joint sealing
  • Gutter and downpipe connection sealing
  • Skylight and roof light perimeter sealing in metal structures
  • HVAC penetration sealing through metal roof decks
  • Corrugated steel sheet overlap and ridge cap sealing

Application Fields

  • Surface Preparation — Ensure all metal surfaces are clean, dry and free from oil, grease, rust and loose coatings. Lightly abrade glossy or heavily coated metal surfaces to improve adhesion. Remove any existing sealant residues.
  • Application — Cut cartridge tip at 45°, load into sealant gun and apply with steady, even pressure into the joint. Tool within 20 minutes using a spatula dampened with soapy water. Apply masking tape for clean joint lines.
  • Curing — Allow to cure at room temperature. Avoid rain contact for at least 24 hours. Full mechanical properties develop after 7 days. Paint only after full cure.
  • Cleanup — Remove uncured product with a solvent-dampened cloth. Cured product must be removed mechanically.
Limitations
  • Not suitable for PE, PP or PTFE surfaces
  • Not suitable for bituminous surfaces
  • Not recommended for continuous water immersion
  • Temperature resistance is -40°C to +90°C — for dark metal roof surfaces in extreme climates that may exceed 90°C surface temperature, conduct pre-project testing
  • Not suitable for structural glazing or primary load-bearing applications
  • Do not apply when substrate temperature is below -10°C or above +40°C
Tips
  • For metal surfaces with existing paint or coating, conduct an adhesion test before full application — lightly abrading the surface significantly improves bond strength
  • In tropical or high-humidity climates, allow the substrate to dry completely after rain before applying — moisture on the surface affects initial adhesion
  • Apply masking tape along both sides of the joint for clean, professional lines — remove immediately after tooling before skin forms
  • Store cartridges upright in a cool, dry location — avoid heat and direct sunlight
  • For roof joints subject to ponding water, ensure joint is fully tooled to a concave profile to shed water effectively
