Surface Preparation:

  • Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, and old sealant residues
  • For metals, clean with isopropyl alcohol
  • For porous substrates like concrete, use BoPin PR-140 Universal Primer
  • For stone facades, ensure surfaces are completely dry

 

Application Method:

  • Cut cartridge tip at 45° angle for desired bead size
  • Apply with consistent pressure using professional sealant gun
  • Fill joint completely from bottom to top to prevent air entrapment
  • Tool within 15 minutes using minimal tooling solution (dry or lightly soapy water)
  • Remove masking tape immediately after tooling

 

Joint Design:

  • Minimum joint width: 6mm
  • Maximum joint width: 40mm
  • Optimal width-to-depth ratio: 2:1
  • Minimum depth: 6mm even in narrow joints
  • Use backing material for deep joints
  • Design joint width to be at least 4 times anticipated movement

Limitation

  • Not suitable for structural glazing applications
  • Not recommended for continuous water immersion
  • Cannot be painted (use BoPin MS-240 for paintable applications)
  • Not suitable for traffic-bearing surfaces
  • Not recommended for PE, PP, PTFE, or direct contact with EPDM

Application

  • For high-rise applications, perform adhesion testing on actual project materials
  • In critical applications, conduct mock-up testing under project-specific conditions
  • For custom colors, contact BoPin technical support with RAL/Pantone reference
  • For wide joints (>25mm), apply sealant in multiple passes to ensure proper contact
  • In extremely hot or cold conditions, store sealant at moderate temperature before use
